Getting on a bike isn’t exactly doing ANYTHING for a story.
It’s not hard to strap on a helmet and peddle, but it wasn’t a way of story telling I first considered when I was assigned to do a reaction story about Lance Armstrong.
Armstrong was in the news Monday after an international body stripped him of his Tour de France titles.
My initial thoughts was just to interview a competitive cyclist. But then the suggestion came from our noon editorial meeting, to do some interviews on a bike, and while riding.

Yep, I was bit intimidated. And I questioned how could this work realistically. But we gave it a try.
We strapped a GoPro to my bike and Jacob, the camera-op, followed close by in a car.
It offered a different perspective for a story that could of just been a bunch of boring streeters at a bike shop.
